How it works
Short, friendly maths questions sit at the heart of every battle.
Answer questions
Maths questions for your year group appear during battles. Each right answer fills a glowing orb and earns coins.
Power up and battle
Spend orbs to heal, shield or strike. Your pets fight for you, so the order and the team you choose matter.
Hatch and grow
Use coins to hatch eggs and find new pets. Spare copies level them up, and they evolve into bigger forms.
Explore the islands
Sail across seas of islands, from meadows and reefs to volcanoes, canyons and crystal caves, beating a boss on each.
Collect and grow your team
Five elements that beat each other, and five jobs: Tank, Fighter, Blaster, Controller and Support. Every pet has its own special move, and it learns more as it grows.

For parents and carers
Your child's pets stay safe in a family account, and you can play on any device.
A family account
- Sign in with an email link: no password to remember.
- Add up to 8 children with a nickname and an optional 4-number PIN.
- A one-time code lets your child sign in on another device.
You are in control
- Download everything we hold about your child, or delete it, whenever you like.
- If your child's teacher gives you a code, their school player moves into your account with every pet.
- A child leaving a class never loses a pet.
For teachers and schools
A quick way to get a whole class playing, with no pupil emails and no passwords to forget.
Set up in minutes
- Sign in with your school email link and make a class.
- Type your pupils' first names: each gets a PIN on a printable card.
- Pupils choose "I'm a pupil", type the class code, tap their name and enter their PIN.
See how they are getting on
- Pets collected, stages cleared, and right and wrong answers per pupil.
- Approve families who ask to link a child to your class.
- Print a certificate with a name and a message in one click.
Pupils keep what they win
- A pupil's player belongs to the pupil and their family, never to the teacher or school.
- When a child leaves, a claim code hands their player to their family.
- Hand a class to another teacher whenever you need to.
Built to be safe for children
We collect as little as we can, and we explain it plainly in our privacy notice.
Questions
Is Hatchlands free?
Yes. Hatchlands is free to play. If we ever add optional extras, they will only change how a pet looks, never how strong it is.
Which years is it for?
Years 3 to 6. Questions come from our Boba Education maths topics for each year, and a player chooses their year and topics. They can switch between easy, medium and hard.
Does my child need an account or an email address?
No. A child can play as a guest on one device, with the save kept in that browser. For play on several devices, a parent makes a family account, or a teacher adds the child to a class.
What do teachers get?
A class code, PIN cards, a progress table for the class, certificates, and a claim code so a family can keep their child's player.
What devices does it work on?
It runs in a modern web browser on computers, tablets and phones, with nothing to install. It needs an internet connection to sign in.
How do I contact you?
Email contact@bobaeducation.com with suggestions or if something isn't working.
